Elyssa L. Lockhart

Meeting Your Legal Needs with Innovation, Efficiency and Professionalism

After globetrotting in my early career, I returned to raise my children with my husband in our beloved hometown communities of Maple Ridge and Mission, British Columbia.

Through my education and professional experience, I’ve learned the importance of staying current with trends in the legal industry and appreciating the many (many!) legislative changes currently taking place in the field of wills, estates and incapacity planning. I strive to be proactive in my estate planning practice, not only with respect to your future circumstances, but with respect to anticipated future legislative requirements.

Some background and professional facts you may want to know about me:

  • I completed my studies in 1999 and acquired my Law Degree from the University of Victoria
  • Prior to obtaining my law degree I attended the Faculty of Commerce at St. Mary’s University in Halifax and the School of Public Administration at the University of Victoria
  • I studied international trade and treaties at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand
  • While in Thailand, I worked with Senator Buwornsak Uwano, evaluating proposed constitutional regulations relating to voting laws
  • I articled and then practiced for several years with a prominent Vancouver law firm, Owen Bird Law Corporation before returning to Mission in 2005.

As both a mother and a legal professional, I understand the legal and social needs of families and the importance of being active in my community. When away from the office, you can find me golfing with my husband or attending the many activities of my three very busy girls. I also have a passion for organizing social, community and charitable events. Community stewardship is very important to me, and my current and previous commitments include:

  • Vice President of the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce
  • Chair – Government Affairs Committee of the Mission Regional Chamber of Commerce
  • Chair – Wine Auction for the Meadowridge School Gala
  • Past Secretary of the Mission Mid-day Rotary Club
  • Past member of the Board of Directors of AMSSA
  • Represented clients on behalf of the Legal Aid Society of British Columbia on a volunteer basis
